Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market & el LECHON de NEGRON Food Truck

Yum! While visiting the Trenton Punk Rock Flee Market, my dad and I stopped by a Kid Friendly Authentic Puerto Rican Pig Roast food truck by the name of: el LECHON de NEGRON. trenton food truckOh my gosh, this Roasted Pork really hit the spot! I ate a scrumptious Roasted Pork Platter which had savory yellow rice on the bottom, and extremely juicy pulled pork, and a creamy grilled plantain. (A banana’s cousin) trenton porkThe textures and juiciness mixed together creating a food symphony. To drink, I had a water. This kid friendly food is worth the money and the quick service is too! In conclusion, el LECHON de NEGRON is a delicious and kid friendly food truck. Hope you can spot it! They are located in New Jersey, so be sure to check out their facebook page: www.facebook.com/ellechon.denegron to locate them. When we exited the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market, my sweet tooth got the best of me, and I bought an apple cider cupcake at Cupcake Carnivale. trenton cupcakeIt was an apple cider cupcake with cinnamon buttercream icing, caramel drizzles, and granola! Percy Street Barbecue

Yum! I recently went to the kid friendly restaurant, Percy Street Barbecue in Philadelphia, and had a lunch to fit a Queen! For a drink, I had sugary and sweet iced tea (which I got a refill on). For an appetizer, I enjoyed scrumptious pulled pork and cheese french fries (WOW!). These are to die for! It sounds like an odd combination at first, but it’s worth trying something new like this! To eat for an entree, I had pulled pork on a potato roll, with a creamy citrusy cole slaw that delighted my taste buds, and baked beans that contained the yummy, smoky black edges of pulled pork. percy sandwichThese were all delicious, AND I took some home as leftovers. Although, I had to save room for minty, and chocolaty grasshopper pie for dessert :) This was my first and very delicious grasshopper pie experience. percy dessertAt Percy Street BBQ, the place is set to look like a cookout! there are various picnic tables and wooden chairs. There is also huge garage doors that open to the street, with outdoor seating as well. Large chalkboards show the Specials at the restaurant. Overall, the environment is very kid friendly.

Hey Kids! There is no kids menu, but I’m sure you’ll find a kid friendly barbecue favorite on Percy Street Barbecue’s menu.

Hey parents! This is a great place to come to eat! Enjoy! My parents said that there are over 200 beers on the menu, and they all come in cans. Might be a good date night destination…

Overall, this place deserves 2 thumbs up out of 2 for their truly kid friendly joint. This was a special stop for my Birthday, and I would certainly stop here again! The kid friendly service was good. The place was packed, so the serviced slowed a little, but depending on when you go, it could be a little quicker.

Be sure to check out their website at

Thanks!

Enjoy!

Cross Keys Diner - 4125 E Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA 18902

Sorry for the delay, everybody, I’ve been busy with Back-to-School stuff. But, I’m back with kid friendly restaurant reviews! :)

Mmmm! A little bit ago, I visited Cross Keys Diner in Doylestown, PA and had a delicious and gourmet kid-friendly breakfast! Yum! I had a delicious omelet with smoky Gruyere cheese, savory prosciutto, hearty spinach, and mouth-watering Portabella mushrooms. Oh, and don’t forget the fresh sautéed potatoes on the side. cross keysSounds a bit (okay, a lot) gourmet for a child’s palette, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! :) For a drink, I had tart orange juice. YUM! What a perfect way to start the day! A special thing about Cross Keys is that if you order a coffee, It comes in a cool mug that might have Santa or many other common mug designs on yours! The service is totally kid friendly because the waitresses are perky and stay on top of things. The environment is kid friendly because it’s retro but modern at the same time! A fun fact is that when my parents were dating many years ago, this used to be their favorite breakfast spot. I’m glad to see that it is still around, and that I got to experience it.

Hey Kids! There is no kids menu, but I suggest picking a kid friendly dish that also appeals to the senses.

Hey Parents! This place is swell, but always busy. I advise coming here if you are patient for waiting, but otherwise, it’s totally worth the experience.

This place I rate 2 thumbs up out of 2! It’s kid friendly, but keep in mind that it can be very crowded.

They don’t have a website :( but check out their restaurant! You can check out Google Plus for hours: https://plus.google.com/111754827231726021421/about?gl=us&hl=en

Seasons 52 Fresh Grill - 160 N Gulph Road King of Prussia,PA 19406

Delicious Kid Friendly Restaurant found! I recently went to Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, PA and had a delectable meal for my Mom’s birthday. My grandmother came along as well. They are known for seasonally inspired ingredients at their peak of freshness. This day happened to be the first day of their Summer Menu, and the vegetables offered on the dishes are best for the Summer Season, like tomatoes, sweet corn, and snap peas. For an appetizer, I had succulent, to die for crab and cheese stuffed mushrooms. Also, my grandma and I shared a fresh shrimp cocktail, and I tried a slice of the delicious asparagus and gruyere cheese flatbread that my parents had ordered My dinner choice was a savory shrimp pasta with mixed, seasonal, locally grown vegetables over a bed of pasta. Seasons 52And if you thought things couldn’t get more delicious, we had toothsome, adorable desserts! I ordered two. A Belgian S’more, with a chocolate coated graham cracker and a chocolate dusted marshmallow on top. It had chocolatey pudding as far as the eye can see below the toppings! My second one was a carrot cake dessert. On top was a sweet, candied carrot and below it was layers of delicious carrot cake and sweet cinnamon cream cheese. Oh! they were delicious, to die for, kid friendly desserts! I had water to wash it all down.

Inside, It was classy, but modern, and it had dimmed lights, to give the restaurant a fancy feel. We sat right next to the kitchen! (that’s where a blogger deserves to sit) We could watch them make our delectable dishes from our seats! Our waitress was always on her feet, and always smiling. Talk about kid friendly service! :)

Hey Parents!

This place is fancy, delicious, but pricey. I suggest coming here on special occasions! Anyways, whenever you visit, Bon Appetite!

Hey kids!

There is no kids menu, But I’m sure you’ll find a delicious kid friendly meal on the menu that you’ll enjoy! Make sure that you get dessert!!

Fun Fact: Every dish here is under 500 calories!

I rate this place 2 thumbs up out of 2 for the superb, quick service, the delicious kid friendly food, and the kid friendly environment.

The Butcher and Barkeep - 712 Main Street, Harleysville, PA 19438

Delicious! I recently went to The Butcher and Barkeep to find another Kid Friendly Restaurant to share with my readers, and had an unforgettable meal! Sadly, it was a special, so it might not be available when you go. I had a crispy, tempura-battered, soft shell crab with sweet, roasted watermelon, crisp, fresh, pea shoots, and spicy Creole mustard. butcher and barkeep I had never had soft shell crab before, and my parents told me that I must try it! So, I did, and I can tell you, YOU must try it! Oh my gosh, it was the most scrumptious seafood dish I’ve ever had. Soft shell crab is kid friendly, too, because you just plow through the whole thing until not a speck is left! You eat the shell, the legs, (even the claws!). It really is a fun kid friendly experience, eating a soft shell crab, so next time it is available, you must try it! To wash it down, I had tart, toothsome, kid friendly lemonade. For an appetizer, my parents and I all split a plate of garlic parmesan wings. They have a bit of a bite to them, but otherwise, they are kid friendly, messy, and scrumptious. For dessert, I had a brownie sundae. An out of this world family recipe brownie with Freddy Hill Farms Chocolate ice cream. Together, these two beloved desserts make a kid friendly, delicious combo. There are many welcoming decorations in the restaurant, (example: We Can Do It! poster in the ladies room). Our waitress was peppy, and always there when we needed her.

*One special thing to note is that they specialize in always having 5 constant items on the menu. Wings, Flatbread, Mussels, Soup, and a Cheese Plate. These change on a regular basis, and make you keep coming back to try the latest and greatest.

Hey Parents! There is a huge bar here, but the environment is still kid friendly. Consider taking your family here! My parents said that the Small Plates can be fun to share.

Hey Kids! There are delicious choices on the kid’s menu, but I’d suggest getting the chicken and waffles on the adult menu.

I rate this place 2 thumbs up out of 2; the food is spontaneous, the service is kid friendly, and the environment is kid friendly.

Hungry Bear Café - 429 S. Bethlehem Pike Fort Washington, PA 19034

Delicious! I recently went to Hungry Bear Café and had an out-of-this-world burger! I had the Truffle Hamburger- Truffle aoli, wild mushrooms, and tomato. hungry bearThat was one of the BEST burgers from a kid friendly restaurant that I’ve ever had! For example, I’m a HUGE mushroom fan, and this burger satisfied my mushroom craving. Also, the tomatoes compliment the mushrooms, giving the burger a garden-fresh taste. It also comes with fresh hand cut steak fries… DELICIOUS! For a drink, my parents and I all had crisp, refreshing, water. This place is small, with limited seating, but don’t let that confuse you of their awesome burger abilities! There is a big chalkboard here that is often decorated with a chalk bear-their symbol and daily specials. They even decorate their windows! The staff is compassionate and kid friendly.

Hey Parents! What a great joint to come to, you should definitely stop by sometime! It’s a little tricky to get to, and the best reference is that it is on the opposite side of the Fort Washington Train Station Parking Lot.

Hey Kids! There is no kid’s menu here, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy one of the many, savory kid friendly burgers on Hungry Bear Café’s menu.

I give this place 2 thumbs up out of 2, the food is delectable and the staff and atmosphere are kid friendly.

The Washington House Restaurant - 136 N. Main Street, Sellersville PA 18960

Yum! I just went to The Washington House Restaurant for a delicious and filling Kid Friendly dinner for my Dad’s Birthday. I had their pasta special- chicken stuffed with tomatoes and basil. It was served on top of fettuccine with smooth tomato sauce and cheese. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the basil and tomato inside was delicious and fresh. wash houseThe pasta was savory as well, together they all made a melodious combination! For drink, I had sweet lemonade, my favorite! For dessert, I had their dessert special- vanilla ice cream with almonds, a homemade chocolate chip cookie with ganache, and edible glass candy. My waitress was very kind and friendly. She did an awesome job and was very attentive. There were many cool, retro pictures hanging all around the restaurant, which made it feel welcoming.

Hey Kids! There is a kid’s menu, but I did not order from it. I would suggest, if you are willing to be adventurous, getting a special or an item off the menu.

Hey Parents! What a wonderful place to come-by yourselves- or taking your kids! The service is kid friendly, the atmosphere is friendly, and the food is delectable!

I give this place two thumbs up out of two- the service is outstanding, the atmosphere is kid friendly, and the food is out of this world.

Anne's Kitchen Table - 11 Wesley Ave. Glenside, PA 19038

Woo Hoo! I recently went to Anne’s Kitchen Table in Glenside, PA, and had a remarkable kid friendly lunch. This place is a hidden treasure!
For a drink, I had a San Pellegrino lemon sodaannes kitchen drink. It was tart, but that’s the way I like it.
To eat, I had their sandwich called, The Joshua (which is a tribute to her Son). Cheddar, Provolone, and Swiss cheese on your choice of Sourdough or Paniniannes kitchen sandwich. I chose Sourdough. What a delectable dish! It hit the spot. I am a huge grilled cheese fan, and I have had a lot of grilled cheese in my life. But this was clearly the best grilled cheese from a restaurant that I’ve EVER had! I definitely recommend this kid friendly dish.
For a side, I had Roasted Carrot and Lentil soup with Fennelannes kitchen soup. It was delicious, but a bit spicy (the fennel). Otherwise, a delicious soup that’s good for your eyes, too! I know what you’re thinking, I had a really gourmet lunch! Yes, they may have gourmet food, but it is affordable and kid friendly! The menu is also kid friendly because there are jokes in the description of each choice! Here is how it works for ordering: They welcome you kindly and ask what you would like to eat. You order your meal, and head inside (if you are eating outside) to the back where they have a fridge full of a high variety of enjoyable drinks. Then, go back to your seat and start sipping your drink while they cook your meal. Eat, enjoy, and pay! Inside there are many pictures of Tabasco (hot sauce) in different styles of art. It is a warm, inviting, kid friendly atmosphere. Lastly, the wait staff is very kid friendly.

Hey kids! There is no kids menu, but I am sure you will enjoy one of their delectable dishes (consider The Joshua)!

Hey Parents! What a great place to come for lunch! Take your kids here, take friends here, take family here, the possibilities are endless, but you MUST come here!

I rate Ann’s Kitchen Table 2 thumbs up out of 2! The service is exceptional, the food is beyond compare, and the environment is safe, and inviting.annes kitchen sign

Geno's Steaks - 1219 South 9th St Philadelphia PA, 19147

Yum! Recently, my family and I were on the way to a Philadelphia 76ers game, when my parents wanted me to have a kid friendly, Authentic Philly Cheese Steak. So, we drove to Geno’s Steaks. I must mention that it took close to an hour to find a parking spot remotely close. That part was frustrating. When we finally got there, I decided on a cheese steak with cheese wiz (steak with wiz)Genos, and my Mom and I sat down at a table. My dad waited in line for a while, payed, and returned with our cheese steaks. Gino’s steaks are no ordinary cheese steaks, though. They are sliced thick, but they are still to die for! The cheese wiz is surprisingly delicious on a cheese steak! I had nothing to drink, (I was too busy eating my delicious cheese steak to drink, and I wasn’t thirsty). There is a small menu, but all of the choices are savory with great quality. There is no indoor seating at Geno’s, but there are many things to look at at their seating outside. There is a roof over the outdoor seating, so a great place to come if it rains.

Hey Kids! There is no kid’s menu, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy their messy, but delicious cheese steaks. Be patient, because it can take some time to get your food if the line is long.

Hey Parents! The line takes little time to wait in, if it’s not very crowded. But it is worth the wait!

I can’t say much for kid friendly service, because you HAVE to know what you want, or they get frustrated.

WARNING: DO NOT GO TO PAT’S ACROSS THE STREET AND ORDER SOMETHING THEN COME TO GENO’S. THEY WILL MAKE YOU THROW OUT ANYTHING FROM PAT’S THERE, BUT NOT IN THEIR GARBAGE CANS, OR THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT.

I give Geno’s 1 1/2 thumbs out of two because of the not- really kid friendly service, otherwise, everything else was splendid!

El Limon - 38 E Butler Ave, Ambler, PA 19002

If you’re looking for authentic kid friendly Mexican restaurant food, this is the place! I had enchiladas with mole (pronounced- moh-ley) and carnitas. el limonWow! That dish was so delectable, I wanted more! (If I wasn’t full by the end. :) ) Mole is sweet and takes a bout three days to make with about 20 ingredients, this sauce adds a little kid friendly pizzazz to any dish! The entree also came with re-fried beans and Spanish rice, which I LOVE! For a drink, I had thirst-quenching lemonade, (my usual). For a side, my parents and I had HOMEMADE salsa, chips, and guacamole! Yum! what a delicious side, I would definitely recommend this. This place had a small amount of decorations when I first arrived, but they started putting up a big colorful banner and giving the employees new, vibrant uniforms. The service was definitely kid friendly. They checked on us often, gave us extra napkins (much needed!), and refilled our drinks.

Hey Parents! This is a great place for a date night, or to bring your kids. Also, they have free margaritas available, minus the tequila. You have to bring your own : ). It is also BYOB. Hope you enjoy! The restaurant is located on the main road into Ambler, Pa.. It’s not too far from the Ambler Theater.

Hey Kids! There is no kids menu, but I’m sure you’ll find the dish I ate delicious and kid friendly. I hope you enjoy what you get!

I rate this place two thumbs up out of two. The service is wonderful, the food is delectable, and the atmosphere is kid friendly.

El Limon has no website, but you can view their menu at: http://philadelphia.menupages.com/restaurants/el-limon/menu . This is from their other location in Conshohocken, but it is the same. I’m looking forward to going back and trying their tacos!

Cheese steaks! Hoagies! Get them all here at kid friendly Pudges! Pudge’s has many divine choices on their menu-which is molded into the tables! I decided on one item-”Make your own grilled cheese”! pudges grilled cheeseMy concoction happened to be white bread with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and bacon! It was savory, and the BEST GRILLED CHEESE ever!!!! Yum! I definitely recommend getting this. For a side, I had cheese fries. pudges cheese friesThey were like normal hoagie restaurant cheese fries- nicely done french fries with LOADS of gooey cheese. For a drink, I had my usual-lemonade. It was sweet and a bit tart. Pudge’s has many awards hanging in their restaurant-for cheese steaks, hoagies. and much more. They also have a big picture of Pudge’s mascot. Finally, the staff are very kid-friendly.

Hey kids! There is a kid’s menu, but I did not order off of it. I suggest that you get a kid friendly cheese steak or other menu item, though.

Hey parents! This place is a great kid friendly restaurant to take your kids to. Though, I must warn you, the cheese steaks/hoagies are HUGE! Anyways, it’s a great place to visit. :)

I recently went to the famous Dalessandro’s Steaks and Hoagies in Philadelphia, PA to discover a crazy delicious kid friendly cheesesteak! the place was PACKED! But, that’s a good thing because it meant the food was delicious.(it was! :) )to be exact, I had a pizza steakdalessandros steak, The meat was chopped into small pieces, but it seemed to taste better. It had sharp provolone cheese stirred in with the meat, so don’t say, “Ahh! They forgot the cheese on my pizza steak! To top it off, this savory pizza steak had smooth tomato sauce on top. Lastly, to drink, I had Calypso natural lemonade. It was a bit tart, but the BEST lemonade I’ve ever had. calypsodalesandro'sDalessandro’s is a famous restaurant where some celebrities have been while they were in Philadelphia,(Jimmy Fallon, etc.) I can see why they enjoyed it so much! Dalessandro’s is small, but don’t let the size fool you! I would suggest getting take out because seats are usually filled inside. The line is normally long, so it requires a wee bit of patience for your delicious kid friendly food to come. It IS worth the wait though! :) The staff are kind and always up on their feet.

Hey kids! There is no kids menu, but I’m sure that you will find their cheesesteaks are very kid friendly and delicious.

Hey Parents! Make sure you hold onto your kids tight. This place usually is packed and waiting takes a bit of time. But, it’s all worth it in the end! I noticed that parking was tough. So be prepared.

SaiGon 2 Vietnamese Restaurant - 1250 Bethlehem Pike Hatfield, PA 19440

In an attempt to experience more kid friendly Vietnamese food I went to Sai Gon 2 in Hatfield, PA… let’s just say my experience could have been much better. First, when we got there there was no one to greet us because the front desk was really the BACK desk. So, we seated ourselves. After finally getting a menu, we looked through and decided on what we wanted to get. After about a half hour of waiting, a lady came to take our orders. We told her what we wanted, she collected our menus and headed into the kitchen. She came back with our drinks first. I ordered green tea bubble, and my mom ordered a mixture of orange and pinapple juice. First off, the green tea bubble was terrible. The green tea part tasted like ground up matcha green tea pocky.pockypic (shown to the right) Otherwise, the orange and pineapple juice blend was ok. Approximately a half hour later, our waitress returned with my parent’s Pho only, and left. “You can start eating guys,” I said but my parents were kind enough to wait for my meal. : ) 5 or more minutes later, my meal, which was Shrimp stir fried with vegetables was placed on the table. saigon picAgain, our waitress left quickly which was odd because the restaurant was not crowded at all. My shrimp was a bit spicy, but I enjoyed that. But, the tails were still on my shrimp so I had to eat the meat and leave the tails on my plate. The vegetables were delicious, and my meal came with a cute carrot shaped like a flower. Also, there was a plate of sticky rice on the side, which I find very delicious. Half way through our meal, the people who were sitting behind us-their baby started crying. The baby cried until a little bit before we left. Slow service means unhappy kids! My Dad was not a fan of the Pho. It was too salty. This place has tv’s, but they play the news. They have few decorations, but posters of food they sell. It doesn’t really have a restaurant feel.

Hey Kids!

There is no kid’s menu, and with the slow service… not a kid friendly place!

Hey Parents!

This is NOT a place that you want to take your kids. Sure they have tv’s and good food, but the service is horrible.

This place DESERVES 1/2 a thumb up out of two. The food was ok, it was clean, but the service was terrible. They never checked on us to see if we enjoyed our meals, OR worse yet, never refilled our waters.

They don’t have a website but you can visit their Facebook Page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Saigon-2/122698431155751

I found myself disappointed, which is why my review is the way it is. My parents also said that for the price, it should have been comparable to the others we have visited. Not the case.

Jay's Crab Shack - 737B Asbury Avenue Ocean City, NJ 08226

Yum! I just went to Jay’s Crab Shack in Ocean City, NJ for some Kid Friendly Seafood. My family and I took a road trip for a change of scenery from this cold Northeast Winter and trying to find a kid friendly place to eat while we were out and about in OC for the day. After taking a nice stroll on the boardwalk, we stumbled across Jay’s Crab Shack on our way out of town. I had the Grilled Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich. Jays Crab ShackSince we were in OC, the crab was fresh and delicious! It also came with Delicious crab fries. My parents and I all got this, but only I had water to wash it down. This place is really ocean-side decorated! (surfboards exc.) That makes it kid friendly along with the peppy staff. You also can enjoy watching surfing videos on the big screen tv’s to help sway your mind from the cold weather.

Special Note: Jay’s Crab Shack takes their Crab Cakes very seriously. So much to the point where you can order them online. Yep! They’re that good!

Hey kids! The food is delicious, and the kid’s menu looks really neat even though I didn’t order off of it. Either way, I’m sure that you will be very satisfied when you come here.

Hey Parents! Yum! You guys should try this place out! Also, there are tons of drinks (non alcoholic) for you to choose from. I would recommend the sandwich that I got, it’s very satisfying!

This place really deserves two thumbs up out of two for the kid friendly service, kid friendly food, and kid friendly appearance. If you happen to get the chance to stop in there, you won’t be disappointed.

P.S.

I invented a new kind of crab fries–crabby fries! Just simply order the sandwich I got (It includes crab fries) and while you eat it, some of the crab cake is likely to break off. After your sandwich is finished, take one piece of crab and put it on a crab fry. Eat, and enjoy! Repeat until finished. Lastly, you may put ketchup on your fries with the crab if you wish.

Enjoy!’

Asian Legend - 844 West Main Street Lansdale, PA 19446

Yummy! I just went to a brand new Kid Friendly Vietnamese restaurant called Asian Legend in Lansdale, PA. We found this place while cruising around in Lansdale looking for a new place to eat. (this was a very good choice!) I had some delicious food! I feasted on menu item number: (F5) a.k.a. Shanghai (Shang-high). Thick savory udon noodles with tender pork, scrumptious shiitake mushrooms, crisp bean sprouts, appetizing napa (cabbage), scallions, and healthy carrots. Together, these ingredients form a toothsome and kid friendly Vietnamese dish. If you’ve ever had pork lo mein from a Chinese restaurant, it tastes like that. asian legendTo wash down my meal, I had lemon water and warm tea. This place is culturally decorated with many Asian (Vietnamese) decorations ; which gives kids something cool to look at.

Hey Parents!A great place for just YOU to go, and a great place to bring your kids! You’ll all love the authentic decor and food. My parents said that the Pho is the best that they have had so far in the area.

Hey Kids! There is no kids menu, but I think you’ll all like what I got. (It tastes like lo mein!)

Overall, The staff is kid friendly, the food is DELICIOUS,and the environment is kid friendly. The waitstaff goes out of the way to make sure you are enjoying everything, and always were smiling. It can be a nervous experience when trying a brand new restaurant that just opened, but I can tell you that this is certainly one to experience.

Two thumbs up out of two for these reasons above. ^

Hola! I just went to Rey Azteca and had some delicious Authentic Mexican food! This is my latest kid friendly Mexican restaurants stop. Here I ordered the Pollo Con Crema (pronounced: po-yo kon kreyma) which is grilled chicken strips cooked in sour cream sauce with rice, beans, and three flour tortillas on the side. This dish is kid friendly because you can stuff the three soft tortillas with all of the creamy chicken and delectable sides to form three delicious tacos. rey aztecaYum! That’s exactly what I did. Additionally, to wash it all down, I had (my usual) sweet lemonade! Rey Azteca is an authentic restaurant that is decorated to make it feel like Mexico when you walk in. The staff are all kid friendly, so it is a warm and welcoming environment.

Fun Fact: My parents told me that this location use to be home to a Pizza Hut. You definitely can’t tell by what it looks like now.

Hey kids! There is a kid’s menu-but I didn’t order order off of it. Though, you might want to! They have enchiladas, burritos, etc. but try something new if you feel like it! There were quite a few kids there during my visit. That’s a good sign!

Hey Parents! This is a great place for you and your kids. the food is delicious, the restaurant is authentic, and the staff are kind.

I give this place 2 thumbs up out of 2. Rey Azteca has delicious authentic Mexican food, nice and energetic staff, and a real Mexican look to it.

Be sure to visit their website at: http://www.reyaztecamex.com

*Please note that the website does not show all of their locations, so be sure to search online to find the other Pennsylvania restaurants. There are a few of them in Bucks County, Pa but under different names (Cancun & La Hacienda). I haven’t tried those yet, but I would expect a similar experience.

Thanks!

Brooke

KC's Alley - 10 West Butler Pike Ambler, PA 19002

I just went to KC’s Alley in Ambler, PA and had an OK, not so kid friendly restaurant experience. My parents were looking for a place to go to for a good burger, so we ended up coming here, not knowing what to expect. I ordered a cheeseburger without onions, and water to wash it all down. The cheeseburger was hands down delicious! It came with a side order of filling french fries that were a great compliment to my burger. The waitress was nice and made sure that they didn’t put onions on my burger. That’s always a plus in my book.kcs alley

I suggest maybe not bringing your kids. When you walk in, there is a big bar that takes over the entire first floor. Not the most kid friendly first impression, but I was willing to overlook that in search of a good burger. But if you do bring your kids, there is upstairs and small outdoor seating.

Hey Parents! Grownup’s night out? This place is a good selection for you with the variety of beers, wines, and bar food. Also, the night we went, the burgers were half-price, so be sure to check their website for when those deals are.

Hey kids! There IS a kid’s menu, but I didn’t order from it. There are only 5 items on the kid’s menu, so you don’t have much variety if you want to order off of it.

The lights are a bit dim here, and there are hardly any non-alcoholic drinks. Pretty much the only kid friendly things here are the kid’s menu and the TV’s. Other than that, there’s friendly employees-that’s all.

I rate this place one thumb up out of two for my reasons listed above. Kid friendly appearance-not really / kid friendly food-yes / kid friendly service-yes.

Zachary's BBQ-Special Follow Up Visit

brooke with chef taylorHi everyone! I was invited by the owner of Zachary’s BBQ to pay another visit after my latest review of his restaurant, and I had a splendid time. I had the honor of meeting Chef Keith Taylor himself (who trained at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA))! When we first got there, my parents told the cashier to let him know Brooke was here. I was ready to order my usual, (BBQ pulled pork sandwich) and the chef came to the front to introduce himself and told the cashier to add their “fried macaroni and cheese balls” to my order. I was very curious to see what that dish had in store. I was elated to see a delicious bowl of fried mac ‘n cheese balls be placed in front of me, AND brought out to me by the chef himself! Chef Keith Taylor asked for MY opinion on how they tasted, as he sat at our table with us! I answered that they were delicious!! As I took my first bite, he told me that they weren’t even on the menu yet, and he was adding them next week. What a very special experience! These were beautiful fried mac ‘n cheese balls with marinara sauce (see the pic)! You can’t get much better than that. This is a truly kid-friendly dish! Note to kids:You may have been to restaurants where the mac ‘n cheese is good, but not the best. Come here and get the most ooey, gooey, and delicious mac ‘n cheese you’ve ever had!

This dish has the right amount of crisp and gooey texture which makes a great combo for this dish. It also smells divine. Lastly, this appetizer compliments any delicious offering here, and is something you wouldn’t find at a typical BBQ restaurant, which makes me smile.

If you want to explore more about Zachary’s BBQ, check out my other post on this restaurant, or visit their website @ www.zacharysbbq.com

During my visit I had some time to chat with the chef, as we had some questions for each other. This was a truly amazing experience for me, that I will always remember. Thanks Chef Taylor!!

zacharys mac n cheese ballsP.S. Reminder: You can purchase these macaroni and cheese balls as an appetizer/side this coming week!

Definitely a Bites with Brooke, Kid-Friendly Approved Dish!!

Thanks!

Zachary's BBQ - 1709 Markley Street Norristown, Pa 19401

Zacharys BBQOne day, my parents and I were out and about looking for a good place to eat. When suddenly, my Mom suggested a restaurant called Zachary’s BBQ that we had always driven past, not knowing anything about it, on our way to the King of Prussia Mall. I’m a Kid Friendly BBQ fanatic and was elated that we parked in front of this new BBQ stop. As we entered Zachary’s BBQ, my Mom grabbed a menu, and we all timidly looked at the broad selection. I wisely chose a ‘Pulled BBQ Sandwich – choice of pulled chicken or pulled pork (I chose pulled pork) topped with kiss’n vinegar and mild sauce on a soft roll.’ I also ordered their delicious and unique baked beans (aka.BBQ baked beans) ; which had pineapple in with the beans and sweet sauce! And to wash it all down, I had water for a drink. The staff at Zachary’s are very kind and neat. There is a TV in the restaurant that plays jazz music, and you are allowed to sample ANY hot foods before you order! Talk about kid friendly! There are also a variety of sauces to help top your dishes if needed.

Hey Parents! honestly, this is some of the BEST BBQ I’ve ever had. Take your kids here so they can sample and chow down on wonderful BBQ.

Hey Kids! Curious on the dish I ate or other dishes? Then try some samples and order the best one you tried here! Enjoy!

Fact: At Zachary’s BBQ, they smoke their meats THERE!!! So nothing is fake or old!

I rate this place 2 thumbs up out of 2 for the kid friendly service, food, and atmosphere. Guys, I really suggest coming here for the best Kid Friendly BBQ you’ve ever tasted.

Thanks!

Hope you’ll try this place out!

Silk City Diner - 435 Spring Garden Street Philadelphia, PA 19123

silk city dinerWow! I just went to the Kid-Friendly Silk City Diner, and boy, was the food delicious! I devoured the delectable Huevos Rancheros, which consists of: savory black beans, ranchero sauce, guacamole, queso fresco(cheese), sour cream, pico de gallo, and two sunny-side up eggs on a crisp corn tortilla. There is also lettuce and chives used to compliment this dish. and if you’re curious, there is an option to get house-made chorizo on your creation (spicy sausage that’s not too spicy). For a drink, I gulped down one of my favorites, tomato juice. I would consider this a Mexican Food Brunch.

Hey kids! I just want to let you know, there is NO kid’s menu. But, there are many delicious foods on the menu that I think will make you smile.

Hey Parents! There’s a great environment for the whole family, and there’s a bar too! If your kid can’t decide on what to order, help them out, there’s a nice sized menu to choose dishes from!

The restaurant has a cool retro look that really compliments the place. In the summer or spring, there is outdoor dining.

Overall, the food is delicious, the environment is kid friendly, the décor looks wonderful, and the staff are nice.

That means, two thumbs up out of two for my kid friendly restaurant reasons above.

Try it out sometime!

If you’re visiting the Philadelphia Flea Market like my parents and I were, ( www.philafleamarkets.org ) this restaurant is a great place to come, because it’s close and delicious.

Thanks

Brooke
